I give unto men weakness that they may be humble...

Hey mom sorry the email I sent out yesterday didn't go through. I'll just send a quick paragraph if that's ok. My ponderize scripture for this next week will be Ether 12:27 : And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them. I continue to find many things to improve and to be better at here in the mission. I have really been striving to become more like the Savior and to be his disciple. I know as we follow him and give a place for him in our hearts, His grace will be sufficient for us to overcome all the trials and weaknesses that we face.

I am so very thankful for my Savior and for his infinite atonement, that through him, we can reach our divine potential. This past week has been such a wonderful time for me to remember our Savior and to feel of his love and tender mercies. Our Heavenly Father truly loves us so very much that he gave us his beloved son, our Savior and Redeemer. I know that this gospel is true. I know without a doubt that our Savior lives. He is our Redeemer and our heavenly friend. I know that he will always be there for us and to lead and guide us in all that we do.

Thanks for all that you do for me mom. It was such a great time being able to see you guys and to talk to you all this past Christmas. I hope you all have a great week!

Love you forever!!

I Am the Light of the World...

Howdy from Texas! This week has been a very great week. I am so excited for Christmas this next week! I love this Christmas season in being able to remember the matchless gift that our Heavenly Father has given us.

My ponderize scripture for this next week will be,  John ‪8:12‬ Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. I loved Elder Bednar's talk that he gave at the Christmas devotional about how our Savior was literally the life and the light of the world. I am so very thankful to have the Savior in my life. He has felt all of our pains and our weaknesses, our trials and our challenges, and through his light and grace, we can overcome all things. I love the spirit that I feel at this time of year because of the infinite love that our Savior has for us.

This past week has been really special being able to share the new Christmas video and helping others come unto Christ this Christmas season. I am so very thankful for this season to have hearts softened for the message of the restoration and of the gospel. Being able to share the gift of the message of the restoration helps others feel of the light and love of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

We also had our last district meeting for the transfer this past Wednesday. I love the elders in our district! I have loved being able to serve with them and helping each other in the work. I will also be staying in the 10th Ward and the SA South Zone for 7 more weeks! I am so excited to be able to stay here in this area and to help others come unto Christ.

This past Sunday was very special as well. We were able to have our Christmas program in church. We sang many different Christmas songs that brought the spirit very strong into the meeting. I am so very thankful for the opportunity to go to church and to be spiritually renewed and rejuvenated for the coming week. I am so very thankful for this gospel. It is truly the way for us to return to our      Heavenly Father again someday. I know that my Savior lives. He is my Redeemer and loves us all so
very much. I know as we do all we can to follow Him and endure to the end, we will receive a fullness of joy in our Heavenly Father’s kingdom.

Sorry for the short email! We have been pretty busy this p-day but thank you  all for the emails and for the cards and packages that you have sent me! Hope you all have an amazing Christmas!! Love you all!!

Love,
Elder Munro

Come unto Christ and be perfected in him...

Howdy from Texas! This has been an amazing week! I have felt of the spirit and my Savior's love in so many ways this week and I am so very thankful for the gospel and for this opportunity to remember the Savior and his tender mercies in our lives. He truly is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. My ponderize scripture for this week is Moroni 10:32 : Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God. I love this time of season that we have to come unto Christ and be perfected in him. I know as we continuously strive to be more like the Savior, we will find his grace and his tender mercies in greater abundance in our lives. I know that He lives and that his tender mercies are real. He truly loves us so much and desires us to feel of his love and come unto him.

The meeting with Elder Pino was amazing! The spirit was very strong. We were all able to meet him personally and shake his hand. I am so very thankful for our general authorities and for the Lord's servants. They lead and guide us though these last days and help us live the fullness of the gospel. Elder Pino talked about the reality of our calling and how we are all called by a prophet of God. He also talked about how we are representatives of the Lord, Jesus Christ, and His church. As we continue to improve our teaching abilities and strengthen our testimonies, we will be able to become the servants and missionaries that our Heavenly Father desires us to become. I am so very thankful for his enabling power in my life that I am able to do the things that the Lord would have me do. I testify that He is always there and loves us so very much.

Throughout this past week we have seen so many miracles in the work. We were able to see less actives who were having hard times and were praying for help and guidance as we visited them. I know the Lord guides us to those who need our help and that he is watching over all his children. I know as we pray for eyes to see miracles, we will truly see the hand of the Lord in our lives.

Yesterday we had the opportunity to have Stephanie and Jesse's baptism! It was so amazing being able to feel the spirit and to see them enter the path that leads to eternal life. It was awesome being able to have bro Oliveira baptize them both! He did an amazing job. I am so very thankful for the gospel and for all the blessings that our Heavenly Father gives us. He truly wants us to return home to him with our families someday.

I love this Christmas season! This month is often called by missionaries the "Sabbath of our missions" where we get to increase our love for our Savior and strengthen our desires to live Christ centered lives. He is the light and the life of the world and as we give Him our hearts this Christmas season and always, we will be able to reach our eternal potential and become like our Heavenly Father.

Thank you all for the emails! I love you all so much! I hope you all have a great Christmas season.

Love,
Elder Munro

For Unto Us a Child is Born...

Howdy from Texas! This past week has been really good. I continue to find many blessings and tender mercies in my mission that have been strengthening my testimony of my Savior and his work. I love this Christmas season and having the opportunity to celebrate the birth of our Savior.

He truly loves us so much and desires us to come unto him this Christmas season and always. I wanted my ponderize scripture this week to be about the Christmas season and I love the scripture in Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. I love this scripture because of the different names that the scripture gives of our Savior. Reading the many different names of our Savior through out the scriptures gives us a greater testimony of his mission and role as our Savior and Redeemer.

I love being able to read about the birth of our Savior and being able to remember the greatest gift ever given. I love the scripture in John 3:16 : For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Our Heavenly Father truly loves us so much that he gave us ourSavior to overcome physical death and sin so that we may be able to live eternally with him again someday.

This past week has been great! We have been able to see Obed and Stephanie pretty frequently to help them prepare for their baptisms. They’re both ready and excited! We are so excited for this next Sunday to be able to have them baptized and enter the strait and narrow path that leads to eternal life. I am so very thankful for this gospel and for those who truly desire to come unto Christ. I love this work!

We have also been seeing a lot of referrals and less actives. We love helping others be able to become active again in the gospel. It's amazing being able to see the light of the gospel truly lead, guide, and change others to become more like Christ.

We had the opportunity yesterday to watch the Christmas devotional. It was really good! I loved Elder Bednar's talk as well as President Uchtdorf's. It is amazing to know that our Savior is the light of the world and a light that is endless that can never be darkened. I loved how Elder Uchtdorf mentioned theSavior as the “Generous One”. He truly has given us so much and continues to bless us with numerous miracles and tender mercies in our lives. I loved the music too! I love being able to feel of the spirit through music and feeling the love of our Savior.

Tomorrow we'll have the opportunity to see hear from Elder Piño from the quorum of the seventy. We are so excited! We love being able to receive counsel from the Lord’s chosen servants and to be spiritually renewed and strengthened. I am so very thankful for our general authorities who lead and guide us to follow our Savior and to live His gospel. This mission experience has truly been a blessing and I am eternally grateful for this opportunity in my life.

Thanks for all the emails and the Christmas wishes! I love you all so much! Hope you all continue to have a wonderful Christmas time. Love y'all!

Mom: I got the Christmas photos. They look amazing! Brings back a lot of fun memories of home. :) I think we can be able to use FaceTime. I am so excited to be able to see you! The package hasn't come yet but I think it will come tomorrow. Thanks for all that you do for me mom, I feel bad that I don't get to write dad or Kassi that much because we're so busy but I want them to know how much I love them!! Hope you all have a great week. I will let you all know about Elder Piños devotional for next week. We're very excited. Love you guys!!

Nevertheless they did fast and pray oft...

Howdy from Texas! I am so very thankful for this opportunity to be on a mission. My mission thus far has been such a blessing and I am so very thankful for all the things I am learning both temporally and spiritually. I am so very thankful for the miracles that we see all around us. It is such a blessing to be able to help our Heavenly Father in his work. My ponderize scripture this week is Helaman 3:35 Nevertheless they did fast and pray oft, and did wax stronger and stronger in their humility, and firmer and firmer in the faith of Christ, unto the filling their souls with joy and consolation, yea, even to the purifying and the sanctification of their hearts, which sanctification cometh because of their yielding their hearts unto God. I love this scripture because as we continuously fast and pray oft, we will have the strength to overcome those trials and challenges that we have in our lives. Through our humility and our consecration to our Heavenly Father, we will grow stronger and stronger in our love and faith in our Savior and our Heavenly Father. We will become truly converted and our foundations upon the gospel will never waver. I am so very thankful for the sure foundation of the gospel and though the world is changing, our Savior's gospel never changes. Our Heavenly Father is the same yesterday, today, and forever and will always guide us and lead us on the right path.

This past week has been pretty good! Thanksgiving was really good! We were able to see a few families and we were able to go to the Hilario's for Thanksgiving dinner. Their son just barely got back from his mission and we were able to talk to him about his experiences. I love being in this area. There are so many great members of the church and I am very thankful to be able to serve along with them.

We have still been able to go by Brian's, who just got baptized a few weeks ago. He is doing really well and we have started to give him the laws and ordinances lessons and he is excited to continue on the gospel path! We have still been going by Stephanie Olivaries and Obed's and they both are extremely excited to be baptized this coming December! I am so very thankful for those who are ready to accept the gospel and to start on the path that leads to eternal life.

I am so excited for this Christmas season! I love the spirit of Christmas and being able to remember and celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I love the spirit of remembering the gift that our Heavenly Father had given us. Through Jesus Christ, we can be cleansed from sin and ultimately return back home to our Heavenly Father. We have started sharing a video from lds.org called "A Savior Is Born." It's a great video talking about discovering why we need a Savior and why he was born for us. I can't wait for this next month!

Sorry this is a short email but I want you all to know how much I love you!! I love everyone's emails and being able to hear back from home. Hope you all have a great week! Love y'all!

Love,

Elder Munro

Mom on Christmas, instead of a call, I will be able to Skype home! I am so excited to be able to talk to and see you all! I think you can send the package to our apartment complex. We are here pretty often so I think it will be okay. Thanks for the package of clothes! It has been pretty chilly here recently so it has helped out a lot! Thanks for all that you do mom! You mean so much to me!

Peace I Leave With You

Howdy from Texas! This has been a very humbling week for me and I am so very thankful for the gospel in my life. I have had a lot of spiritual experiences this past week and my testimony of this gospel and my Savior’s love for me has been growing tremendously. I know as we continuously involve our Savior in every aspect of our lives, we will able to feel of His love more abundantly and more profoundly.

My ponderize scripture for this next week is John ‪14:27‬ : Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. I love this scripture because as we continue to seek the Savior through prayer and through our worship and devotion to Him, we will be able to have His peace with us. His peace cannot be counterfeited by anything from the world. He truly knows how to help us in times of need and I am so very thankful for prayer and the ability to have that constant connection to our Heavenly Father. Though the world is drifting further and further from the truth of the gospel, we have our Savior and our Heavenly Father to lead us and guide us through. He is always there to guide us through our trials and challenges.

We had the opportunity this past Wednesday to have our zone conference! Pres. Slaughter talked about how we can have a meaningful Sunday worship and how we can show our Heavenly Father that the Sabbath is a delight. I always loved the Sabbath day back home and even more here out on my mission. The ability to be spiritually refreshed and renewed from the sacrament helps us increase our love for our Savior and to continue strong throughout the next week. I am so very thankful for the Sabbath day to draw closer to my Savior and my Heavenly Father. The Sabbath is truly an amazing blessing in our lives.

We also had many different trainings on how we can improve our teaching through asking inspired questions in lessons and teaching for understanding. I am so very thankful for my Heavenly Father’s help in guiding me in learning and growing as a missionary.

We were able to have our Ward thanksgiving party on Saturday! We were able to see the Olivara family and they’re excited for Stephanie's baptism coming up in December! I am so very thankful for the great members of the 10th Ward. They are always willing to engage in missionary work and fellowship those who need the gospel in their lives.

Brian got confirmed yesterday! It was amazing being able to see him happy and excited to become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We have still been going by and teaching him more and helping become familiar with the laws and ordinances of the church. He's an awesome convert!

I want you all to know that your Heavenly Father is always there. He knows the desires and intents of our hearts. He truly wants us to come to him and partake of his love. There is no trial or challenge that is too great for the Savior to help us through. He has felt all of our pains and sorrows and through Him, we can overcome anything. He truly is our Savior and Redeemer and He will always be by our side. The enabling power of His atonement is truly infinite and will always enlarge our souls to become better each day.

Thank you for the emails! I am so very thankful for my family, you all mean everything to me! Hope you all have a great week! Love y'all!!

Love,
Elder Munro

For My Thoughts Are Not Your Thoughts...

Howdy from Texas! This has been an amazing week! It has been pretty busy with transfers but I will be staying in the SA South zone - 10th Ward for this next transfer! I am so very thankful to be in the Ward and area that I am in. I am so very thankful for this time in my life to be able to help others come unto Christ. I have felt and experienced so many blessings on my mission. I cannot begin to describe how much I have been changing and how much my testimony has grown since I came on my mission.

My ponderize scripture for this next week will be Isaiah 55: 8-9: "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." This scripture really made me think about where we are at with our priorities and how we can strengthen our desires and capabilities to make our thoughts and actions inline with His gospel. I know as we follow His gospel and center our thoughts and desires in building His kingdom on the earth, we will experience a mighty change of heart in our lives that increases our abilities to become better disciples of Jesus Christ.

This past Tuesday as we all found out whether we were staying in our areas or if we were going, it turned out that Elder Christensen got transferred to the border by Eagle Pass! He left that next day and I went with the other Elders in our district until transfers this last Thursday. It was awesome being able to teach some lessons with them and to see the investigators that they have. It was great as well to be trained by Elder Christensen, he has helped me gain so many teaching skills that I can use throughout my mission.

Thursday was the day of transfers! Me, Elder Hansen, and Elder Nielsen went to visit the temple just before the meeting, I can't wait to be able to do a session in the San Antonio temple. The spirit was very strong in transfer meeting. We were able to get 7 new missionaries in our mission! I got my new companion/trainer Elder Brough. He is an awesome missionary. He loves to do rock climbing and many other outdoor things. It has been great being able to teach a few lessons with him and do some contacting. I already know this will be a great transfer!

That night of transfers we had the chance to go by and see Joseph Mejia who we haven't been able to contact for the last month. Joseph has a very strong conviction of the gospel but it has been hard this last month to get a hold of him. That night I felt an impression to go see him, so we did and he was there. We had a good short lesson about how our Heavenly Father always answers our prayers and is always there to help us. He felt of the Spirit very strong and desired to meet with the missionaries more. I am so very thankful for the Spirit in that we can receive spiritual promptings and direction from our Heavenly Father so we can help further His work and help others come unto Christ and His gospel. I always want to be worthy to have the companionship of the Holy Ghost.

Yesterday was a very special day for us. We were able to have Brian's baptism and it turned out great. I cannot begin to express how thankful I am for the gospel. It was amazing to see Brian's desire to be baptized increase throughout these past weeks and to see him happy, joyful, and ready to enter the waters of baptism. It was kind of funny because we did the baptism right after church! We were scrambling like crazy but we were prepared. Through out the whole process in getting his baptism ready, I always felt like everything was going to work out and everything was put into place so that he would be baptized. I testify that this is the work of the Lord and that He is always in control. I am so very thankful for His guidance and love in helping me see the miracles all around us and feeling His enabling powers as we help in His work.

My testimony of our Savior and His atonement has grown in so many ways as well as my conviction and conversion to the gospel. Being able to envelop my life in the gospel has been an enormous blessing. The gospel is true and I know it with all my heart. I know that through the gospel, we can experience happiness and peace in this life and the greatest joy in the world to come. Even in the little miracles we see everyday testifies that our Heavenly Father is always there for us and knows the intents and desires of our hearts. As we truly develop and increase our love for our Heavenly Father and savior, we will feel of his enabling power and His grace in our lives. His love for us is truly endless and will always be there to lift us back up when we fall. He is our Savior and Redeemer and through Him, we can return to live with Him again someday.

Thank you for all the emails! I love being able to hear back from family. You all mean so much to me! Hope you all have a great week.

Love,

Elder Munro.

Mom: Thanks for the care package! I love my popcorn! :) thanks for all that you do for me mom. I love you so very much. I hope you had an awesome birthday on Wednesday. Love you forever!!

And This is Life Eternal...

Howdy from Texas! This past week has been a really great week. I continue to see so many blessings and miracles every day and I am so very thankful for this opportunity to serve my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ.

My ponderize scripture is John 17:3 : "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." I love this scripture because as we continue to learn more about our Savior and our Heavenly Father, we are able to prepare for eternal life and to increase our relationships with them here on earth and for the eternities. It will be amazing when we return to live with our Father in Heaven again and realize how much our love and devotion to him has grown.

This past week has been pretty busy! Our district had the opportunity to have dinner with the Hilarios on Tuesday. Their son is serving his mission here in San Antonio too. It's fun being able to meet more and more great families in our area. We have seen so many miracles with contacting the less actives in the 10th Ward. Even though we haven't focused too much of our efforts on our current investigators, we have been blessed with those who are ready to be baptized! We had the chance to teach Obed who could be ready to be baptized tomorrow! We were able to teach him the restoration and the gospel in Spanish. Because we were able to trust in the Lord and work our hardest with our assignment with the less actives, we were able to find so much success. It's hard to express how much we have been blessed with and I know that this is truly the work of the Lord.

On Friday, I had the chance to go on our last companionship exchange for the transfer with Elder Hansen. He taught me so much about being diligent in speaking the Spanish language. It's amazing being able to learn from other missionaries and to see how others teach and practice speaking Spanish. There are so many amazing families that we visited and taught the restoration of the gospel and the plan of salvation. Teaching the gospel has been amazing!

We had the chance on Sunday to have our stake conference!  We were able to watch a live broadcast for many of the stakes in the Southwest. We were able to hear from Elder Dallin H. Oaks who talked about enduring in the last days and continuing faithfully in the church. The spirit was so strong and I am so very thankful for our leaders who guide and direct us in these latter days.

Brain is still looking forward to his baptismal date this next week! He is so prepared and is excited to come unto Christ through entering the waters of baptism. Obed also has a baptismal date for the 13th of December! After he is baptized, he wants to get sealed to his family as well! We have been blessed immensely and I'm hoping that I will be able to stay for this next transfer. I am so very thankful for this experience to be able to see others change and come unto Christ and receive of those blessings that are found in the gospel. I cannot express how many blessings I have received as I have been on my mission. This missionary experience is truly changing me in becoming the missionary and priesthood holder the Lord wants me to become. I have been striving to develop Christ like attributes and to continue to increase my love for the scriptures and the words of the prophets.

Thank you for all the emails. Hope you all have a great week! Love y'all!!

Love,
Elder Munro

Mom: Thanks for sending the pictures!! Looks like everybody had a fun time! It's starting to get a little colder but I have been doing fine, the black jacket that I have has been working out great. I still need to go by the mission office to get the package, I have been so busy! I love keeping busy though and being involved in the work as much as possible. I want so much for time to slow down and enjoy my mission as much as I can, time truly does fly!! I was wondering if I could get a list of birthdays in our family that I could send emails too as well. I bet that birthday surprise was awesome! I want you to know mom that I love you so very much! You have done so much for me and are a true disciple of Jesus Christ. I am eternally blessed to call you mom. I hope that you have an amazing birthday!!!

Press Forward With a Steadfastness in Christ

Howdy from Texas! This past week has been a really great week! My testimony of my Savior and his work has been growing immensely and I know that the gospel is true. I am so very thankful for this amazing opportunity to be able to learn, grow, and help others be able to feel of the joys of the gospel. I have seen so many blessings in my life this past week. I can't even express how many blessings I have been receiving as I have been on my mission. It is such a blessings to be able to preach and learn more about the gospel everyday. I have felt an increased love and relationship with my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. Through giving your whole heart and will to the Lord in doing his work, He will bless you in enumerable ways. I have been striving to become the missionary that He wants me to become. I am humbled and excited to see how I will change throughout these next two years.

My ponderize scripture for his week is 2 Nephi 31:20 : Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life. I love this scripture and we use it a lot in our lessons in teaching the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As we enter the path leading to eternal life through baptism, we must continue in the path by enduring to the end. As we continue to read and study the scriptures, follow the prophet, and keep our covenants, we will be able to receive eternal life and be able to live with our Heavenly Father and our eternal families again someday. I know and I testify that these things are true. I know that only through our savior can we experience eternal joy and peace in this life and in the world to come. I love the scriptures!

This past Wednesday, I had the opportunity to go on an exchange with Elder Nielsen in our district. We were able to go by Sylvia Crabtree who is a less active. We invited her to church the past few weeks and we were able to see her every week! As we went over, we gave her the temple invitation from pres. Monson and she said she wants to do the temple and family history work for her mother and father as well as others in her family! I am so very thankful to be able to see others coming back to the gospel and experiencing joy, peace, and lasting happiness.

We have been doing a lot of work with the less active members this past week and we have been having a lot of success! We have been biking a lot too! It's fun being able to bike around our area and to see more of south San Antonio. Many of the missionaries say that this area is the "promised land" because of all the potential that this area has. The other Elders in our district referred us to the Olivares family this past week and we were able to teach them some really good lessons. They are an awesome family! They are a less active family but the father, Martin, was a member his whole life and his wife and their 10 year old daughter have been baptized a year ago but have become less active. Whenever we ask questions or involve them in the lesson they always give amazing answers and insights for others in the family. There are 3 others; two that aren't baptized so we are hoping to teach them some more and to be able to have Martin baptize his three other kids. We have also been keeping in touch with Brian too. His desire to be baptized has grown tremendously this past week. I hope I will be able to stay here in this area for this next transfer so that I can see him be baptized. I am so very thankful to be in this area!

It seems like each and every week as I go to church and partake of the sacrament, I am spiritually fed and rejuvenated for the upcoming week. I am so very thankful for my Savior's atonement and eternal sacrifice. The more and more I partake of the sacrament, the more sacred and meaningful the atonement is for me. My love for the Savior is strengthened and I want to deepen my desire to always follow him and to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ. Being able to have his spirit to be with us is truly an amazing blessing.

Thank you all for the emails! I hope every has a great week. Love you all!

Mom, thanks for sending the pictures! Haha Looked like Rev and Kassi had a good Halloween. :) I'm sorry to hear that bro. Carlson died, I know he is in a better place. I haven't gotten the package yet because I haven't been by the mission office this past week but I'll try and go by sometime soon. We're doing good with cooking. :) we have been cooking chicken and some of the easy and quick stuff like pasta and cereal. We get fed really well by the members. :) I hope dad is doing well, I think about him a lot and want him to know I love him so much! I continue to pray that he will be able to find a job closer to home. You all mean so much to me. Have an awesome week! All is well in the Lone Star State. :)

With his stripes we are healed.

Howdy from Texas! This has been a very humbling week for me and I am so very thankful for the gospel in my life. As I have pondered my ponderize scripture through out this past week, I have felt of my Savior's love in so many ways. I know that he is the way, the truth, and the life. This scripture led me to ponderize Isaiah 53:3-5 for this next week. It is:

3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

I know that through the saviors infinite and eternal sacrifice, we can be forgiven of our sins and enjoy the blessings of the gospel in this life and to live with our Heavenly Father again someday. He truly knows all our pains and weaknesses and desires us to come unto him and to put our trust and faith in him. I am so very thankful for his tender mercies in my life.

Elder Christensen and I had an awesome opportunity to do a companionship exchange with our zone leaders this past Tuesday! I went with Elder McDonald and Elder Christensen went with Elder Evans.  Companionship exchanges are where we change companions for 24 hours and learn from each other in our different areas. It was cool being able to go with Elder McDonald and see the investigators that he had and to meet some of the members in the Las Palmas ward too. Our zone leaders are awesome! I have learned so much from them and have been incredibly blessed with their service in the south zone.

We continue to work a lot with the less active members and strive to help them be more active in church. We have been doing really well with planning out our days and on how we will use our time most effectively. We haven't had too many appointments this past week with our current investigators because of this assignment but we have been getting a lot of new investigators through our findings with the less actives. There is so much to do! I love it though, it is nice to keep busy and to progress in the work of the Lord.

We have still been going by Brian and Greg. Greg was on the fence a few weeks ago about being baptized and said he wasn't quite ready yet. We still want to keep in touch with him and to help him all that we can. Brian has been progressing a lot! We were able to teach him a few times this past week and has accepted a baptismal date for the 7th of November! I am so very excited to be able to see him get baptized and to experience the blessings of living the gospel.

The weather here has been pretty rainy! We were caught in a huge rain storm on our bikes coming back from one of our areas! Ha ha we enjoyed the rain while it lasted. It is starting to cool down a bit but occasionally gets up to the 90's. I heard the winters here are pretty chilly because of the humidity so I am enjoying the warmth while it lasts.

Yesterday was a very spiritual day for me. I had the opportunity to bless the bread in sacrament meeting. Being able to do that helped  strengthen my testimony of the savior and his Atonement. As I have been out on my mission, I have gained so much strength in partaking of the sacrament by being spiritually renewed and fortified for the coming week. I know as we partake of the sacrament, we will be able draw closer to our savior and increase our love for him. We will gain a greater reverence for his infinite atonement.

Thanks for all the pictures mom! It's great being able to see familiar faces back home. :) thanks for all the emails and for being able to hear back from home. Thanks grandma for the pictures! Everything is going good in south Texas :) Have an awesome week!

Love you all!!!

I am the way, the truth, and the life...

Howdy from Texas! This past week has been a pretty uplifting and humbling week for me. I have strengthened my testimony of the Savior's atonement tremendously and I am so very thankful for his tender mercies in my life.

My Ponderize scripture for this next week will be John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. This scripture means so much to me. I know that the only way back to our Heavenly Father is through our Savior's atonement and grace. He is the way to eternal life and is the source of all truth. Through the power of his atonement, we can receive everlasting life and be able to experience the joys of living in our Heavenly Father's presence again someday.

This past Tuesday we had the chance to have our zone meeting with President Slaughter. It was amazing! Many of the speakers were from our zone and talked about many different things that would benefit us in becoming better missionaries. The topic that President Slaughter shared during our meeting was Blessings and Healings. He talked about how the healing that we receive through blessings are predicated upon our faith and trust in the Lord's healing power and will for us. One of the sisters in our zone talked about having enduring conversion in and after our missions. One of the biggest things that I have focused on here in my mission is being truly converted to the gospel. I am so very thankful that I have this opportunity to learn and progress in the gospel and to be able to continue developing my testimony and love for the gospel. One of our zone leaders had a really spiritual message as well. He talked about the characteristic of being consecrated. He talked about how sacrifice is a major part in being consecrated. To be consecrated is to dedicate formally to a religious or divine purpose. As missionaries, we dedicate these two years to the Lord and consecrate our actions to how he would act if he were here. I know as I live a more consecrated life here in the mission field, I will be able to see blessings and miracles all around me. I want to continue to live a consecrated life after my mission.

This past week has been a little different than the previous weeks before. We put a lot of focus on the less active / member families and extended invitations through being more active in the gospel and receiving temple blessings. We also got a new investigator this past week who is Brian. He was introduced to us by the zone leaders at church while they were attending the Spanish ward. The funny thing is he doesn't speak Spanish! Haha he goes with a family who he is living with and has the oldest roughly translate for him. Because we are the English elders in our area, we were able to start giving him the missionary lessons. We taught him the restoration this past Tuesday and he says he is ready to be baptized! We are really excited to continue teaching him and to see him progress and develop his testimony. We want to continue to help him prepare for baptism this next week.

Throughout this past week we invited our investigators and less actives to the open house we had at the church this past Saturday. With all our efforts, not many were able to make it, but we all were still edified in continuing to share the gospel and to bring souls unto Christ.

The culture here is great! The people here are very nice and are always willing to help with whatever you need. The food here is amazing! The barbecue they have is to die for! Every time we bike through our area at night, we can always smell Texas barbecue.

Even though it is October, it still gets pretty hot and gets up to the high 90's. It has been a pretty hot change but its been really good.

This is kind of a short email but I am so thankful for all the emails that you guys send me. They have brought me a lot of happiness to know that all is well back at home. I have been having such an amazing experience and it has all been going by so fast! I want to be able to enjoy it as much as i can. It is truly a blessing to be a missionary.

Love you all!

Finding the Lost Sheep

Howdy from Texas! This past week has been really great and I have been strengthening my testimony of the Savior and his work tremendously. I continue to develop a greater desire to help others come unto Christ and to experience the joy that I have in living the gospel. I strive to increase my teaching skills in every visit and to allow the spirit to be the ultimate teacher and to teach in the Lord's way. Even in the simplest conversations with others, I am starting to feel of the great blessing of having the gift of charity which is the pure love of Christ.

My ponderize scripture for this past week was Alma 26:12 "Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever." I really liked this scripture because of the need that we have to fully rely on our Heavenly Father and to trust In his strength, that we can overcome all things through him. I know that because we are weak, we are able to be humbled and brought low so that we can strengthen our faith in the enabling power of the Atonement. My ponderize scripture for this week will be D&C 19:23 "Learn of me, and listen to my words; walk in the meekness of my Spirit, and you shall have peace in me". I love this scripture because of our need to increase our love for the Savior so that we are able to more fully follow him and to be true disciples. I know as we follow the Savior in all that we do, we will truly find greater ability to overcome challenges and trials and to have peace in this life and in the world to come.

We have been doing really good in this area! At times we don't have time to go tracting because of the overload of referrals we get! Right after conference we got an assignment called "Finding the lost sheep" where we go to less active members and help and invite them to receive temple recommends so that they can enjoy the blessings of the temple and to be more involved with the ward and the gospel. We have been doing pretty good with this assignment. At times many families are not home for us to see but we get to know a lot of people from the area who share similar beliefs.

This past Tuesday for our service we had the chance to help the workers at the food bank help prepare boxes for shipment to families in need. That was a pretty cool experience and I hope I will be able to go back a few more times in the coming weeks.

Throughout this past week we have been helping Greg Gallardo with preparing for his baptism this coming Saturday! He was a previous investigator that my companion had on his previous transfer in this area. Even though I didn't teach him much about the gospel, I am so excited to be able to be at his baptism and to support him. He has a strong desire to be a member and to join the rest of his immediate family who are members too.

For a few days this past week, we had the chance to teach Juan Alcorta. He is a really skilled painter and makes signs for companies and little businesses in our area. It's pretty interesting being able to see others views on religion and how they strengthen there faith in everyday life. Each visit that we go by him, he always says how much he feels strengthened in his beliefs and in his relationship with our Heavenly Father as we teach the doctrines and principles found in the gospel.

I feel so much joy in being able to preach the gospel and to help others come into the knowledge of the gospel and the joy and safety that it brings. Even in street contacting, I feel a great love for the people and desire them to treasure up the teachings of our Savior and His gospel. As I have been teaching through out this past week, I have gained a greater perspective on the importance of listening to others and listening to the spirit. I have felt of the great importance in bearing testimony of the gospel and for what we know to be true. I am so very thankful for my testimony and for the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost so that i can continue to strengthen my testimony and to ultimately be converted to the Lord.

We also had the opportunity to have a meeting with all the missionary trainers and us trainees. We talked about the importance in learning the fundamentals of the church and that we need to learn how the church works in order to further build up the kingdom of God on the earth. We also talked about how through the enabling power of the atonement, we can overcome our weaknesses as missionaries. Through our faith and humility, weak things will become strong in our lives. Afterwards we talked about how to better set language goals as missionaries in order to be better teachers and to achieve greater success in our missions. At the end of our meetings, we talked about the amazing opportunity to serve a mission and how it will not only bless the lives of those we teach, but that through our desires, we will be able to return home truly converted to the Lord and His gospel. I desire with all my heart to be converted to the Lord and to keep the faith.

I am so very thankful for the opportunity that we had yesterday to attend church and to partake of the sacrament. Though I loved general conference last week, partaking of the sacrament meant so much to me this week because of the renewal of the covenants that I made at baptism. It means so much to me to be able to remember the atoning sacrifice of our Savior and to ponder his tender mercies in our lives. I loved the saying where we go to church not because we are perfect, but because we desire to be healed. I am so very thankful for my Savior and for his tender mercies in my life, he truly is the Savior and redeemer of the world. He is always there and His atonement is available to each of us.

Thank you for all the emails! I love getting them through out the week and hearing back from home! Pictures will be on the way! You all mean so much to me! Love you all!

Love,

Elder Munro

I made it!

October 5, 2015

Yeehaaahh! I made it to San Antonio Texas and back to the United States!

This past week has been such an amazing week and I am so very thankful for this time in my life that I have to be able to serve a mission. I have already seen the blessings come into my life and I know that it is because I am serving a mission.

As we got off the plane in the San Antonio airport, we were able to meet President Slaughter and a few of the missionaries that came to greet us. It was really amazing being able to see the other missionaries at the airport and feeling the excitement build up as we were ready to serve the Lord.

After we got back to the mission office and had lunch, we were able to go to the Alamo and pass out Book of Mormons to those who were there. It was an awesome experience being able to follow the spirit and to share the knowledge of the gospel and the importance of the Book of Mormon. It was exciting to be able to pass out the Book of Mormons because of the love that I feel towards the gospel and the testimony that I have of my Savior.

Afterwards we had the chance to go to the mission home and have dinner with the president and his wife. They are true disciples of the Lord and have a strong desire to serve Him. I am so very thankful to receive counsel and direction from them and to work alongside them. After dinner we talked about some of the fundamentals to greeting and approaching others and how to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ. We got to learn more about the president and his wife and their desires in serving in the Texas San Antonio area.

After that first day, I had felt such an excitement and joy and I knew that I was going to have an amazing mission experience and that it would change my life forever. On Thursday, we were able to get our new companions as well as our new areas were we will be serving for the next 6 weeks. After we got our supplies we were able to meet in the chapel and hear all the secretaries and the presidency of the mission bear their testimonies of the gospel and missionary work.

Soon afterwards they started to call out our companions and the areas we would be serving in. My companion and trainer is Elder Christensen and we both will be serving in the San Antonio South area for the next 6 weeks. I am so very thankful for my companion because of the example he is to me in living the gospel and being a servant of the Lord. He's been out for around 11 months and loves sports and the outdoors.

As soon as the meeting ended, we packed up and headed over to our new area. After we got our stuff unloaded at our apartment, we started to bike to our progressing investigators that my companion had before our current transfer. I was able to meet Joseph Mejia who we talked about prophets and the importance of having priesthood authority on the earth with. We also talked to him about General Conference that was coming up and the opportunity we have to hear counsel from our prophet and apostles. Afterwards we were able to bike around the area to our other contacts and investigators. Though it was nice being in a new culture at the Mexico MTC, I am so glad to be back in the U.S!

It has felt like every time I have been able to find someone on the street or to see someone outside their house and just say hello and see how they are doing it brings joy to my soul and I feel of the importance of my calling and how important this work truly is. On our bike ride home that night, I couldn't stop thinking about how thankful I was to my Heavenly Father for this amazing life changing opportunity to be serving a mission. I want to be able to use the time that I have on my mission to strengthen others and to help others come unto Christ and to feel of the peace and joy that comes from the gospel. I am so very thankful for the opportunity that we have had these past few days to be able to watch General conference and to hear from our prophet and our apostles. I really enjoyed how many of the talks have counsel in finding safety in the gospel and standing firm in our beliefs. I know there is safety in the gospel and as we live it, we will be blessed to face the challenges and trials that we have in our lives.

Yesterday after conference we were able to stop by a home that we had received as a referral to give them a message. As we gave a lesson on the Restoration, I could feel of the spirit and knew that He was there testifying of our message. When it came to my turn to share a few points of the lesson, I felt as though Heavenly Father was guiding me and helping me to know what words I needed to say just like the scripture in D&C 84:85. I am so thankful for the influence of the spirit in my life and for the help that it gives us in our teaching abilities. I am so very thankful for this gospel. I am also thankful for the time that we have to be able to study and to increase our testimonies as we are out in the field. As I continue to preach the gospel every day, I gain more and more an understanding of the purpose of why we are out here and how sacred this calling is to me.

Mom, thank you for the awesome package you got me!! I love the picture!! That scripture means a lot to me and I know as I live worthy of the spirit in my life, I will be able to help others feel of that same spirit as well as the love of Christ. I hope all is well back home and I hope you know how much I love you. I continue to increase my love for you guys and I am so very thankful for the strength that you give me. There is so much that I want to say but words cannot express how happy I am to be out here. I want you all to know how thankful I am to have an eternal family so that we can live together for eternity. Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers and know that my Heavenly Father is watching over me. Continue to treasure the gospel and the light of Jesus Christ, he will never lead us astray. Love you all!!

Love,
Elder Munro

Not only are we protected here through physical ways but we are protected by angels on the other side. The spirit is very strong here. I am so thankful for this opportunity in my life to serve a mission and to train to become the missionary the Lord wants me to be. I want you to know that the gospel is true and this is the Lords work here upon the earth. I am so thankful for this sacred calling. I feel an increase in humility and reverence in all that I do. Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers as I embark on this new journey. I will email next Tuesday then after that I will email every Wednesday. Love you all!

August 25
¡Hola! I love it here at the Mexico MTC! It has been such a blessing to start preparing to become a missionary and a representative of the Lord, Jesus Christ. I continue to feel of a great sense of humility and sacredness in the calling that the Lord has blessed me to have.

On our first day when we arrived, we were introduced to the President and some of his counselors. They are really amazing people and I am blessed to have them counsel and direct us. As we finished the introduction to the campus and unpacked our suitcases at our casas (house) , we had dinner at their comedor (cafeteria). While getting my food, John Odland ran over and gave me a hug! It was awesome being able to see him again and to talk about his experiences at the MTC so far.

We also were able to get our companions for our stay at the MTC. My companion is Elder McNatt. He has a strong spirit and is well introduced into the gospel. Our second day we were introduced into the language and was further introduced to our classrooms and the rest of the buildings at the campus. The Campus used to be a school for children, but in recent years, the First Presidency made the inspired choice to change it to a Missionary Training Center we have today. Our district is awesome! We have a lot of strong missionaries in our district and zone and feel of the spirit very often when I am with them.

We also had the opportunity to prepare our first lesson in Spanish to an investigator on our second night here. Even though it was a pretend investigator, I was so very thankful for the guidance and help that I have received from my Heavenly Father in preparing for lessons. Though my Spanish is not that great, I feel like I am getting better and am striving to improve.

On Saturday, we had a few activities and videos that we saw that demonstrated the love and concern that we should have for other people and our investigators, which should always represent the love that our Savior has for all of us. One video was very powerful for me about lifting burdens. I want to strengthen my desire to teach each investigator according to their needs and seeing the blessings flow in their lives as well as loving others as Christ would love.

On Sunday we were able to have priesthood and sacrament meeting with our district. It was very powerful to learn more about baptism and its meaning to the investigators in priesthood meeting. Sacrament was very powerful as well. Most everything is done in Spanish so some words are recognizable and others I am trying to learn. Later that day we watched a devotional by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland. I highly recommend that you watch it. He gave his talk at the Provo MTC in 2013 where he also dedicated a few building to the campus. His devotional was very powerful and I could feel the Spirit very strong. He talked about how this is the generation and dispensation that will not fail in preaching the fullness of the gospel to all the world. He said in order for us to teach others the gospel, we must learn it for ourselves and to follow in the footsteps of each investigator. He also talked about how we all need to come home with one convert, and that should be ourselves. We also watched a movie called How Rare A Possession which talked about the importance of the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I have read it and know by the power of the Holy Ghost that it is true. We ended the devotional by singing God Be With You Till We Meet Again in Spanish. I felt the spirit incredibly strong at that moment, even though I didn't know the words to it before in Spanish.

Yesterday was a great day as well. Even though I have felt a little homesick, I am amazed at how much the Lord has blessed me. I have had little to know worries or anxieties while I am here and I can testify that that blessing is from the Lord and came as I was set apart as a missionary. We had the opportunity to teach our investigator again and taught her the restoration, I felt the spirit so strong and could not stop crying as I read the First Vision in Spanish. I too can testify that he is the Prophet of the Restoration and that through him the gospel was restored and brought forth enumerable blessings for each of our lives.

Today we went to the Temple open house at the Mexico City temple that has just been renovated. It was a very special experience and I know that families can be together forever through the blessings of the temple and through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Thank you all for your prayers and love. I will email again around the same time next Wednesday. Pictures will be coming next week too. Love you all!

September 2
¡Hola! Thank you all for the reply emails! They have brought me great joy and strength as I am here at the MTC. The Spirit here at the MTC is amazing and I feel of the spirit everyday, even in ways I have not felt before. My testimony of the Gospel is growing and I am continuing to learn to trust in my Heavenly Father and to humble myself and recognize his hand in all things.

Last Wednesday we had the incredible opportunity to have Elder D. Todd Christofferson give a devotional here at the MTC. Both he and his wife spoke about missionary work and the importance in bringing souls unto Christ. Sister Christofferson remarked that having charity helps you know who the Lord wants you to be. You will want to serve him for the rest of your life. She also talked about Moroni 7 which is to pray for the pure love of Christ which is charity. Elder Christofferson gave a powerful message as well. He talked about how we have a wonderful privilege to serve a mission. He challenged us to recognize the privilege that we have to serve. He also said that some things can be a burden on a mission but will all become worth it in the end. He also talked about not being discouraged about the language and that through my patience and diligence in learning the language, that I will be rewarded for my efforts. This gave me comfort in knowing that I can understand the language and to be able to teach the gospel through the spirit and through the Gift of Tongues.

Afterwards he opened up the congregation to answer questions which was really powerful too. He concluded with a powerful testimony: He sent us here to help others connect to him. Your life should be a model of what you radiate. The fact is that you are a representative of Jesus Christ, whether or not others say you are inadequate. The Lord perfectly knows you. None of you are strangers to him. When you feel miserable at times, know that he watches over you and will never abandon you. This whole missionary experience will build a foundation for your entire life. His testimony really strengthened me to become a better missionary and to really think about who I represent and to more fully align my thoughts and deeds to meet that standard.

Throughout the week I have progressed in learning different grammar and vocab in the Spanish language and I have been seeing a lot of improvement and I am thankful to my Heavenly Father for all the help and guidance that he has given me. I have strived to always keep him in my thoughts and to remember why I am here. I still try to be humble in my calling and to help others see the significance in it as well.

Throughout the week, we have many different Book of Mormon discussions and how they relate to our missions. We talked about Alma the younger and his conversion to the gospel through repentance. We also talked about the dedication and integrity that Nephi had to build the ship though others were against what the Lord had commanded him to do. Throughout the week we learned how to demonstrate different ways of teaching and strengthening our ability to study and improve upon those skills.

Sunday's are probably my favorite day here at the MTC. In Priesthood, we talked about how we can magnify our Priesthood callings and to truly be active in the church. We also talked about how Jesus was always focused on the needs of others. I personally wanted to focus on the needs of my companion and others in my district. Sacrament meeting was very spiritual too. The talks were on tithing and the importance in keeping the commandments of God and seeing the blessings come into our lives. We had a devotional that night about the differences between Testimony and Conversion, and in order for us to be converted, we have be changed forever. Another speaker talked about learning the language and gave us a challenge to reach higher than the goals we have set. The speaker talked about how we should never give up diligence, faith, and power, and by staying on target as a missionary, we can find success in ourselves and with those we teach. That night we all watched the Restoration movie. I know that Joseph Smith is the Prophet of the Restoration, he truly did see God the Father and His son, Jesus Christ. I am so thankful for the sacrifices of all the saints so that I could be born into the gospel and experience the joys and blessings that our Heavenly Father has provided for us.

Yesterday we had the chance to see a live devotional from the Provo MTC. Elder Dallin H. Oaks and his wife spoke to us. They both gave a powerful witness of the importance of the Lords work in the Latter days. Elder Oaks counseled that we should teach by the spirit and to always be worthy of its companionship. Without the spirit, we cannot be able to teach. One comment he made I really liked, he said that we were called to teach people, not lessons. In order for us to have His Spirit to be with us we need to partake of the sacrament, to remember him always, and to remain worthy. He gave a powerful testimony of the Savior and his role in our lives.

Thank you all again for your emails, it means so much to me to hear back from home and to hear that everyone is doing good. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. They help out a lot! Love you all!!

Mom: Thank you so much for the binder with all the scriptures, quotes, and the pictures of the family. I refer to that binder every night, love you forever!

September 9
¡Hola! Things are going great here at the Mexico MTC. It is crazy that it has already been three weeks since I left! It felt like I just got here! Time goes by very fast here at the MTC and we keep very busy. I try to live everyday to the fullest because I will be leaving here in no time to go to Texas.

I am continuing to learn and to grow in my testimony of this gospel and feel a great sense of peace and comfort too. It is truly a blessing for me to immerse myself in the gospel every day that I am here. Every day we have the opportunity to practice teaching investigators and it has really helped me improve my teaching skills and my communication skills as well. I have been improving in the language and desire to further strengthen my communication skills in the Spanish language.

Everyday that I am here, I think about how grateful I am to have this opportunity to learn and grow to become the missionary the Lord wants me to become. I have been looking for ways I can be an example to others in representing Jesus Christ in all that I do. I know as we keep that standard and obedience as missionaries, we will find an increase of blessings in our lives and in the lives of our future investigators. At times, I am amazed at how much the gospel blesses our lives and for the great promises and blessings we enjoy as disciples of Christ.

This past Saturday was very cool. We had the chance to do our first TRC which is where they bring in real volunteers which could be members, investigators, or even non-members. My companion and I gave the first lesson to a member about prayer and the importance in keeping close contact with our Heavenly Father. By the end we both shared our testimonies about the gospel. As I shared my testimony about the Savior in simple Spanish, I felt the spirit so very strong that I could not control my emotions. I absolutely know that our Savior lives, and that he atoned for our sins and made it possible for us to return to live with him again someday. Afterwards we taught a real investigator about the Restoration of the Gospel. We invited him to pray to know if Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ and if he did help restore this gospel here upon the earth. As he committed to pray about our message, we testified of the importance of the gospel and how it will bless his life personally.

Because it was fast Sunday this past Sunday, we were able to fast from Saturdays dinner to Sundays lunch. I felt the influence of the spirit in that time and I know that fasting is important for our spiritual development and for our relationship with our Heavenly Father.

In Priesthood meeting, we talked about priesthood ordinances and the ordinances we need for salvation as well as blessings for comfort and peace. I am so very thankful for the ordinances that we have here upon the earth so that we can develop and increase our testimony of the gospel, our Savior, and our Heavenly Father. As we are faithful to the covenants that we make through sacred ordinances, we will experience many promised blessings and eventually have eternal life. This lesson in Priesthood really made me think of the importance of the Sacrament and to have that reminder of the covenants that we have made at baptism and to always remember the atoning sacrifice of our Savior.

Later we had the chance to have a class with the MTC Presidency where we talked about the enabling power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can overcome sin and death and triumph over all other challenges that we experience here in mortality. Gaining a testimony of the atonement will help us as missionaries better teach our investigators the great joy that comes through the atonement of Jesus Christ.

The Devotional on Sunday night was very spiritual too. We watched a devotional by Richard G. Scott about communicating with our Heavenly Father through prayer. He counseled that we should always pray to our Heavenly Father and express our emotions and feeling to him. He is always there to help us and guide us. He also said to not be discouraged if answers to prayers don't come in the timing or way that we may expect. He will always answer our prayers. We need to take time out of our day to listen to the promptings of the Holy Ghost and seek for the things that the Lord would have us know. Towards the end of his talk he said that this missionary experience will build a great foundation for your life and will bring great blessings to your immediate family and to your future family as well.

Later that night we watched Meet The Mormons. It was really cool being able to see that movie again and I felt very blessed to have the gospel in my life. One thought that came to me as I was watching that movie is that we are a world-wide church. The fullness of the gospel and its blessings are for everyone. That really motivated me to share the joyful message of the gospel and help others feel of the peace that it brings into our lives.

Yesterday for class we talked about the great importance for investigators to receive personal revelation through the Book of Mormon and that they can can know for themselves that it is true. By the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things. Last night we had a devotional on the gathering of Israel and our duties as missionaries to help prepare the earth for the Second coming of our Savior. I am so very thankful that I get to help others come unto Christ and to help others receive the ordinances of the gospel.

Lately I have been thinking a lot about family. I want all of you to know how much I love you! You guys mean everything to me. I am so very thankful for the blessings of eternal families so that we can be together forever in Heavenly Father's presence. Thank you for all the emails, they help me in many ways and give me added strength while I am here. Pictures are on the way! Love you all!

The dedication of the Mexico City temple will be this Sunday.  We will watch the celebration and dedication at the MTC via broadcast.  Rumors have been going around that President Henry B. Eyring and Elder Jeffrey R. Holland will be here and will come to the MTC!  It will be a neat experience and I am excited to tell you about it a week from today.

September 16
¡Hola! Everything has been going great here at the MTC! It's crazy that it's already week 4! Time goes by way fast here and I am trying to enjoy it as much as I can. I have had an amazing week. My testimony of the gospel and of my Savior has grown immensely and I have been striving to be a better missionary each day. Throughout the week, i have felt like Heavenly Father is always there and is mindful of our needs and desires as missionaries. At times, some days can be harder than others with the language but I know that my Heavenly Father is helping me and I feel as though little by little my understanding of the language has been increasing.  I have grown to love those around me and to be more patient with those in my district and with my companion.

This past weekend was awesome! We had the opportunity Saturday night to be able to watch the Mexico City, Mexico temple celebration. There is a lot of neat culture and tradition in Mexico and it was cool being able to see the legacy and sacrifice that the members of the church had here in Mexico to bring forth the gospel in these latter-days. Sunday morning was very spiritual. We had the chance to watch the re-dedication of the Temple and to listen to talks by both Elder Erying and Elder Holland. Elder Erying talked about the blessings of the temple and how we can increase our light and knowledge as we enter the House of the Lord. He also talked about how we can receive answers to personal prayer while in the temple. Through out his talk I really thought about the blessings that we have and are available to us to be spiritually fed and increase our knowledge and testimonies of the gospel. I really enjoyed Elder Holland's talk too. He talked about how the sacrifices of the early saints brought forth the blessings of the temple in our day. Through the prophet Joseph Smith, the ordinances of the temple were restored again on the Earth. It means so much to me to know that through the temple, we can be eternal families and that together, we can return to live with our Heavenly Father again some day.

We had a very spiritual Sunday Devotional too. We watched a Devotional by Elder David A. Bednar where he talked about the Character of Christ and how we can improve upon the attributes of Christ. He also talked about how true conversion comes when we turn outward and seek the needs of others as Christ did instead of turning inward and becoming prideful. I have been striving to become more Christlike in all that I do. I know that as I try to be more Christlike and by being a better representative of Jesus Christ, I will see the blessings in my life and in the lives of future investigators.

Later that night, we had a class with the MTC Presidency where we talked about the importance of the Holy Ghost, not only in the conversion of our investigators, but for our eternal progress in returning back to our Heavenly Father. We talked about the roles of the Holy Ghost in testifying of the truth and bringing things to our remembrance. I am so very thankful to be able to have a constant companion with me to help in making decisions and receiving answers to prayers. I know as I remain worthy I will be able to teach by the spirit and in the way that my Heavenly Father would have me teach.

Also for that night we watched three short movies, One on the Temple garments, the other on the early saints and their conversion stories, and a short movie on the atonement of our Savior. I really enjoyed the video on the temple garments because of the constant reminder we have of the covenants we have made in the temple. The video of the saints and their stories was pretty cool too. I love to hear about the stories of the saints and to see how much faith and love they had for the gospel. They truly persevered through many trials and hardships, centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ. The movie on the Atonement really touched me too. Watching that movie really made me think about how much the Savior truly loves us and desires us to receive the blessings of exaltation.

One day this past week we also watched a video called The Atonement and Missionary work by Elder Erying and Elder Holland. It really touched me to know that because the Savior understands our trial and challenges, we can call upon him to help us in our missionary labor and in our personal trials.

Today for our P-Day, we had the amazing opportunity to do an endowment session in the Mexico City Temple! It was pretty cool doing a session in Spanish. I felt the spirit very strong throughout the session and I know that the spirit of the Lord dwells there. It was truly amazing being able to go back and see the temple again.

I also thought a lot about Trevor today too as he is heading out on his mission. I love those pictures! I am so glad that you guys (mom and dad) were able to make it down there to be able to see him. I was there in spirit :) He has such a strong spirit and I know that he will be an amazing missionary and will bless the lives of those in Macon, Georgia. Mom I am so excited that you got the call to be the 1st counselor in the YW Presidency! I know you will do amazing and will bless the lives of the Young Women in our ward.

Thanks so much for the big package too! I still have a long ways to go to eat it all. :) Sorry for not sending the pictures last week. I got really busy and didn't have enough time. Hope you like these ones! I hope you guys know how much i love you and think about you everyday. I am so very thankful for my awesome family! I am so very thankful that we are an eternal family. Heaven wouldn't be Heaven without my family. Thanks for all the emails again! They bring me a lot of joy and I look forward every Wed to hear back from home. Love you all!

September 23, 2015

¡Hola! I have been having an amazing experience here at the MTC! This past week has truly been a blessing for me. I have learned a lot about myself and who I am to the Lord. Its crazy to see how fast the time has gone while I am here. Its already week 5! Its awesome to be able to think that I will be in Texas next week and continue my missionary service in the United States!

Every day I have tried to study and work harder to increase in my learning of the gospel. I truly hope that as I increase my studies and my capabilities to work harder, that the Lord will help me with those things that I struggle with and need to improve. I feel as though he understands that I desire to work hard and to do my best. I truly want to show him my desires to serve Him and His children.

This past week, we had the opportunity to continue teaching our investigators the missionary lessons. Through out our lessons,Ii have found as we keep the spirit with us and teach by the spirit, the lessons go a lot smoother and I feel guided on what the investigators needs and feelings are. Last Friday, we had the chance to teach our night teacher, Hermano Tlatchi who was role playing his inactive bother. We taught about the importance of the Atonement and also the importance of families and how they bless our lives. After the lesson, Hermano Tlatchi commented that we as a companionship did excellent at finding the concerns of the investigators and to help them find joy in the gospel as well as finding forgiveness through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. That really helped me and motivated me to continue seeing others as Heavenly Father sees them and to help them feel of the love that our Savior has for us.

The next day we had the opportunity to have another TRC. We taught about the importance of the Book of Mormon and that we can receive personal revelation for the trials and challenges that we have in our lives. I know that the Book of Mormon contains the fullness of the everlasting gospel and that it truly does testify of Jesus Christ. My testimony of the Book of Mormon has been strengthened in so many ways and I am so very thankful to have it in my life.

This past Sunday was really awesome! Sacrament meeting was very powerful and I felt the spirit very strong as I recommitted myself to being a better missionary and recognizing the hand of the Lord in my life. In our Class with the MTC Presidency we talked about an in depth look at Priesthood Keys and their importance in missionary work. For the Sunday Devotional, we watched a Devotional that Elder Holland gave back in 2011. He talked a lot about how Preach My Gospel came to be and how important it is to use in our daily studies as missionaries. He also said that PMG helps the missionaries convert themselves to the gospel, then we are prepared to help others receive and accept the gospel. Elder Holland also counseled that we as missionaries need to study better, prepare better, and to extend commitments. One thing he said that really hit me hard is that we are the Hope of Israel and we are to help others receive the joys of this gospel and ultimately salvation. I always love to see his talks because of the spirit that I feel and the motivation that I gain to become a better missionary.

Later that night we watched three short movies. One was on the early sister missionaries and their faith in preaching the gospel and helping to prepare the way for future missionaries to serve. The other was called Only a Stone Cutter. This video was about a man who walked 22 miles every morning to work on the Salt Lake Temple. It really made me think of the faith that the Saints had and how they truly believed and trusted in the blessings that our Heavenly Father provided for them. The last video was Finding Faith in Christ. This video is one of my favorites because I feel the spirit so strong in learning more about the miracles and teachings of the Savior. I know that he lives and that he leads and directs his church here upon the earth. I am so very thankful for the knowledge that I have of the Savior and that I continue to strengthen my testimony of him. He means so much to me.

At the start of this week, I have been having a few trials in learning the language and feeling confident in teaching the gospel in the Spanish language. I remembered the promise that was given to me in my setting apart as a missionary that through my patience and humility, that I will be able to learn the language and it will be able to bless my life in the future. As I put my faith and trust in my Heavenly Father, I felt as though my understanding of the language was growing and that my capabilities in the language were being strengthened. Even though they were small things, I feel as though Heavenly Father is very aware of my concerns and that I truly want to be the best missionary I can be. I want so much to please him and to be his servant and his disciple. I feel as though he knows that I work my hardest each day and that I want to be prepared and ready. I feel too that even if I struggle a little in the field, I will be planting the seed of the gospel in the lives of those that I come in contact with. As I testify of the things that I know to be true, the spirit will be my guide and will testify of the truth of all things and will lead others to joy and happiness.

I want you all to know that I love my Savior so much. I have increased my relationship with him in so many ways while I have been here. He truly is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. As I go to him in prayer with the challenges that I face, I feel of his love and his help in my life. He truly loves us and desires us to succeed. Mom thanks so much for the Donuts! They were really good and my district loved them too ;). I sent Kassi an email a few weeks ago I hope she got it. I am so very thankful for your emails and being able to hear back from home and to hear how you guys are doing. Every week I grow to love my family even more. I'm glad everything is going good and that all is well. I'm not sure when I will be able to email again next week I may be able to call home or email the day I get to Texas. Know that I love you all so much! Texas here we come!

September 29, 2015

¡Hola! One last email from Mexico! I will be leaving here tomorrow at 4:30 in the morning! The experience that I have had here has been one of the best and I will always remember the amazing things that I have felt and things I have learned about myself and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This past week has really helped me be able to prepare for the field and to be better introduced into missionary life. This past Friday we had meetings involving The Doctrine of Christ and how we can better set goals that can be achieved in the work of the Lord. One thing I have never really realized is the importance of members in missionary work and for the strength they give to new converts and progressing investigators. The biggest thing that we talked about was our objective as missionaries to invite others to come unto Christ. I know as Ii put forth all of my efforts in the work of the Lord, I will be able to feel confident in my success as a missionary and as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

This past Sunday was very spiritual too. For Priesthood meeting we talked about how we can be guided through our trials by consistent prayer and scripture study. I know prayer, scripture study, and faith in my Savior will help me conquer the trials and challenges that Ii will face in the field. Our Savior is always there to help us and guide us through all that we do.

Sacrament meeting was awesome! I had the chance to give a quick talk about tithing in Spanish. Partaking of the Sacrament has always been a powerful experience here and I am thankful each week to be able to remember the Savior and his Atoning sacrifice.

For our Class with the MTC Presidency, we heard from President Tenorio. He talked about many of the basic truths that we will teach as missionaries and the examples in his life of the evidence of the love that our Heavenly Father has for each of us.

That night, we watched a Devotional by Elder Bednar about how to become a Preach My Gospel missionary. He mentioned that we need to always remember who we represent and to be worthy to administer in the office that we are called. He also talked about how we need to feast upon the words of Christ and to desire a greater knowledge and understanding of the Gospel. We need to be better at teaching people and not just giving memorized lessons or phrases. As we truly rely upon the Lord and trust in him, we will become the missionaries that the Lord wants us to become.

That night we also watched The Testaments. The Testaments is about when Christ appeared in the Americas and established his Gospel. I know that those events truly happened. I know that the Book of Mormon contains the fullness of the Everlasting Gospel here upon the Earth and was translated through Joseph Smith by the power of God. Each time I read the Book of Mormon, I grow in my testimony of this Gospel and increase my faith in the Savior. I know as we continue to read the Book of Mormon, we will be able feel peace and joy more abundantly in our lives.

Afterwards we watched a slideshow of all the missionaries that were leaving the next week. We got to have our picture up on the slideshow! It blows me away at how fast time has gone by here. I have learned so much and I continue to learn many things as I am on my mission. We had a very strong testimony meeting with those that were leaving that next week.

Yesterday we had the chance to watch the funeral service for Elder Richard G. Scott. He truly is a disciple of Jesus Christ. Throughout the funeral service, I thought of the importance of having prophets in our lives to help and guide us through living the gospel. I am so very thankful for their testimonies and witnesses of Christ which brings me hope and the light of Christ into my life.

I know that this gospel is true. It has blessed me in so many ways that I cannot begin to count. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer and is the head of His church. I know that Jesus Christ died for me and for my sins. I am so very thankful for the Atonement and to be able to be forgiven of my sins. I am so very thankful for this amazing opportunity to help others come unto Christ and feel of His love for them. I am truly blessed to be a missionary. Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers, they truly help me in many ways. I am so excited for this new adventure! San Antonio Texas, here we come!! Love you all!!
